Dr Darryn Ansted is the Coordinator of Painting in the Department of Art at Curtin University in Western Australia.
"I am interested in challenging the autonomy of art. Some modernist strategies have done this and I believe that they still can if they are adapted to the contemporary context. Ideology has shifted so I equally attempt to shift painting's deconstructive strategies. I combine now historical modernist motifs and processes with a focus on sites and events that reflect the contemporary context. This perspective has been informed by working between Australia and Jordan."
